Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12 of the NFL season for his performance in the Miami Dolphins’ 34-15 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Tagovailoa completed 29-of-40 passes for 317 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions as the Dolphins posted their third consecutive victory and the former Alabama All-American raised his record against the Patriots to 7-0.
Tagovailoa has won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award three times. He also earned the honor for Week 2 of the 2022 season and Week 1 of the 2023 season.
The other winners were Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, NFC Offensive; Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Myles Garrett, AFC Defensive; Seattle Seahawks cornerback Coby Bryant, NFC Defensive; Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz, AFC Special Teams; and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin, NFC Special Teams.
Tagovailoa became the eighth player from an Alabama high school or college to win an NFL Player of the Week Award this season. Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry (Alabama) was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 4 and Week 6, Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney (Alabama) was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5, Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (Alabama) was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5, Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. (Alabama) was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 6, Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch (Alabama) was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 6, Browns quarterback Jameis Winston (Hueytown) was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8 and Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (Pinson Valley, Auburn) was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 11.
