The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the better teams during the 2024 NFL season, even with Justin Fields starting for an injured Russell Wilson over their first six games. Fields, the fourth-year quarterback, was acquired by the Steelers back in March from the Chicago Bears for a 2025 sixth-round pick. This came just a couple of weeks after Pittsburgh traded for Wilson, who spent the last two seasons with the Denver Broncos. Wilson, the former Super Bowl winner with the Seattle Seahawks, was still expected to start over Fields to begin the season, but due to injury, he had to wait to make his debut. But Fields held his own, going 4-2 in his starts.
In those games, the former Ohio State Buckeyes star completed 106-of-160 passes for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception. Fields also recorded 55 carries for 231 yards and another five scores.
Now, with the Steelers looking like a better team with Wilson running the show (4-1), it seems Fields, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, could be on his way out of Pittsburgh.
According to Bovada, Fields has the second-best odds (+250) to take over the starting spot for another AFC team to start 2025: The New York Jets. The only player with better odds goes to their current quarterback, Aaron Rodgers (+200).
🚨BREAKING: Justin Fields now has the 2nd best odds to be the #JETS STARTING QB next season, per @BovadaOfficial.
Only Aaron Rodgers has better odds, but retirement or a trade will change that.

Rodgers and the Jets have not had the season many expected. After missing nearly all of the 2023 season with an Achilles tear he suffered a few snaps into Week 1, Rodgers and New York have found themselves sitting at 3-8 going into Week 13. Although the former Green Bay Packers star has said he plans to return to the Jets if he does, in fact, play next season, many people have their doubts.
New York has done everything in their power to improve the team with Rodgers under center, including acquiring his former Packers teammate, wide receiver Davante Adams, and dismissing head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas. Still, the Jets haven’t been able to figure it out and are on the brink of missing the playoffs once again. New York will likely need to win its final six games of the season to make the postseason, starting on Sunday when they face the Seattle Seahawks. If they continue to struggle, Fields could be in the plans for the Jets’ future.
