Packers Receive Best Injury News Possible Ahead of Week 15 Showdown with Seahawks

Every team is dealing with injury issues right now, but the Packers have had a rough go of it over the last half of the season. Guys like Romeo Doubs, Jaire Alexander, and Evan Williams have missed chunks of time recently, and it’s felt like each week brings a new key play onto the injury report.

But, for the first time in a while, the Packers may finally have some good injury news. The first injury report of Week 15 was released on Wednesday, and with it came an abundance of positive updates. Alexander and Doubs were both full participants, and Williams was even a limited participant.

But the biggest news may have been the status of tight end Luke Musgrave. Musgrave practiced for the first time since undergoing ankle surgery back in October, and all signs are pointing towards him returning to action in the near future. Musgrave met with local media after the Packers’ practice session and gave an encouraging update about his health and timeline to return.

Luke Musgraves sounds like he’s close to returning for the Packers’ stretch run

“Feeling good,” he said during media availability on Wednesday. “Still getting back into it, still working in the ankle. But [my] body feels good, I’ve been in the weight room a lot, so it’s really good … We’re just going to ease back into it. Still getting the cutting back, but overall, it feels good. I think [a return is] as soon as practical, I don’t know if there’s a timeline, but as soon as possible. When they let me go, I’ll go.”

For all the obvious reasons, getting Musgrave back right in time for the final month of the season would be a massive boon for the Packers. Now that he’s entered the 21-day practice window, the team can designate his return from IR anytime in the next three weeks.

The Tucker Kraft-Musgrave combo has shown flashes of real potential, but the two have struggled to stay on the field at the same time. Especially for a Packers’ passing offense that’s, politely put, plateaued for most of this season, getting Musgrave (and Doubs) back would ease a good bit of concerns. And while it sounds like he may not be quite ready for a return this Sunday against the Seahawks, getting him back for the final two NFC North games of the season would be huge for the Packers’ chances of locking in a higher playoff seed over the next month.
