Miami Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose went down with what appeared to be a very serious injury during their team’s game against the Houston Texans.
Texans safety Calen Bullock connected on a head-to-head hit with the defenseless receiver as DuBose ran inside during his route. Bullock was flagged for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on the play.
After staying down for more than 10 minutes, DuBose was eventually stretchered off the field and taken to a nearby hospital. He was alert and in stable condition at the time.
A slow-motion replay of the hit on DuBose emerged on social media.

A fan on social media recalled DuBose’s story of how he began playing Division II football. During the pandemic, the receiver worked three jobs, including “bagging groceries at Walmart” before playing for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Fans shared their prayers, thoughts and concerns for DuBose on social media.
“I can’t understand how the players can witness Grant DuBose’s injury and nearly losing his life on the field, yet find the strength to continue playing,” said one fan.
Shortly after DuBose was taken off the field, the Miami Dolphins social media team shared a positive update.
Dolphins WR Grant DuBose has been ruled out with a head injury. He is in stable condition and being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

While DuBose was down KPRC’s Chancellor Johnson commented he had never seen a player down for so long, not as a complaint, but out of concern for the player.
“This is the longest I’ve ever seen a game delayed because of an injury. The entire Dolphins team was circled in prayer. An emotional scene at NRG as Grant DuBose was carted off the field.”
One fan noted how the Texans fanbase behaved inappropriately during the wait for DuBose.
“That hit on Grant DuBose really bringing out the worst in the Texans fanbase. Can’t say I’m surprised after they defended one of the dirtiest hits in recent memory.”
When reporters spoke to Tyreek Hill after the game, he shared another update about DuBose, per ESPN’s Kimberley A. Martin.
“Tyreek Hill on the scary scene involving Grant DuBose: ‘The word is, he’s in good spirits right now. He’s moving.’ #dolphins.”
The Texans won the game over the Dolphins, 20-12.
