“The Packers Search For A True WR1 Continues”: Green Bay Packers Find Future Number 1 Wide Receiver With Selecting BIG10 Wide Receiver In 2025 NFL Mock Draft

One of the biggest questions with the Green Bay Packers this season has been trying to find a true number-one wide receiver for this offense. Each week, Christian Watson, Tucker Kraft, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs have been
stepping up Green Bay.

Kraft has proven to be the number one tight for the Packers moving forward, but it is still unclear who the number one wide receiver is in the Packers offense. Quarterback Jordan Love has thrived under not having a true number- one wide receiver. Jayden Reed is the leading receiver for the Green Bay Packers this season with 49 receptions for 727 yards receiving and six touchdowns, along with averaging 14.8 yards per reception. He has been targeted 65 times this season.

If Jayden Reed does not get to 1,000 yards receiving this year, it will be the second consecutive season that a Packers wide receiver does not eclipse over 1000 yards receiving. Brad Menendez of draftcountdown.com has the Green Bay Packers selecting wide receiver Evan Stewart from the Oregon Ducks in the second round (58th overall selection) in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Menendez said:
“The Packers’ search for a true WR1 continues, and Evan Stewart could be the answer. While Christian Watson has shown flashes, his inconsistency highlights the need for a reliable top target for Jordan Love. A polished receiver, Stewart brings an intriguing blend of physicality and versatility. He’s more of an outside threat than a slot specialist, offering the Packers an additional dynamic weapon. While he may not project as a surefire WR1 immediately, his upside could turn him into a primary option in Green Bay’s offense.”
This season with the Oregon Ducks, he has caught 48 passes for 613 yards receiving and five touchdowns, along with averaging 12.8 yards per reception. Stewart played with the Texas A&M Aggies before he played for Oregon. Evan Stewart is 6’0″ and weighs 175 lbs.
Christian Watson Could Be Trade Bait

It is unclear what the Green Bay Packers are going to do at the wide receiver position at the end of the NFL season. There is a chance that Christian Watson gets traded after the season because they don’t want to give him a second contract. Tucker Kraft, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs all could get second contracts from the Packers.
Another reason why Evan Stewart could very well be drafted by the Green Bay Packers is because of how poorly Dontayvion Wicks has played this season for the Packers. Evan Stewart may not emerge as a number-one receiver right away if he were drafted by Green Bay, but he has been a playmaker for Oregon this season in college football.
