MRI Results On 49ers Running Back Isaac Guerendo

The injury bug sank its teeth into the San Francisco 49ers one last time this season when, on Sunday versus the Arizona Cardinals, rookie running back Isaac Guerendo suffered a knee injury in the first quarter.

He had to be carted off the field, and he was only in the game long enough to carry the football two times for a grand total of five yards.

An MRI was done on his injured knee, and the bad news is that he has a sprained MCL, as well as a sprained ankle. But the good news is that his ACL wasn’t injured.

This means that he’ll likely be able to participate in OTAs in a few months once the Niners reconvene and start to look to pick up the pieces from one of their most frustrating and tortuous seasons ever.

With the injuries to RB1 Christian McCaffrey and RB2 Jordan Mason, Guerendo showed plenty of promise at times this season. He ended the season with 420 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 84 carries, which translates to 5.0 yards per rushing attempt. His blazing speed makes him a very intriguing prospect moving forward
