On Sunday afternoon the Kansas City Chiefs suffered an embarrassing 38-0 defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos.
Well, it would have been embarrassing if the Chiefs were actually playing their starters. However, after locking up the No. 1 seed in the AFC on Christmas with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City decided to bench star players like quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.
It was a decision that sparked backlash among Cincinnati Bengals fans who were hoping the Chiefs would defeat the Broncos and help them make the playoffs. Instead, following the Chiefs loss, Bengals fans rushed to social media to suggest Kansas City was “scared” of Cincinnati.
That was a question posed on the latest “New Heights” episode featuring brothers Jason and Travis Kelce.
“There’s some people alleging it was a purposeful letting you get your [expletive] kicked,” Jason floated on the show.
Travis didn’t take kindly to the allegations.
“I’m not scared of [expletive] nobody, I wanted them in the [expletive] playoffs. I want to slay every dragon one-by-one like Mortal Kombat. I don’t want this to be like a we play the lowest seed. Just give me the best teams – AFC/NFC. Give me all of them, Mortal Kombat style. I’ll go through every [expletive] one of them just giving it my best [expletive] effort,” he said during the show.
“I ain’t scared of a single soul, man. I’ll play them in a Wal-Mart parking lot, I don’t give a [expletive]. We can have our own game in the offseason. Look, I love competing against the greatest. The Bengals were a fun [expletive] team to watch there towards the end of the [expletive] season. And it’s a shame they didn’t make the playoffs because it would have made the playoffs that much [expletive] crazier and that much more fun.”
Fans loved his passion heading into the playoffs.
“Playoff Trav is on lock bro. Loving the passion and energy, that’s what we need,” one person said.
“I have a list of people I need travis to run into at a wallmart parking lot actually,” joked another.
“Playoff Travis >>> P.S He’s definitely locked in,” said another.
Kansas City will sit back and relax while watching the first round of the playoffs before facing the lowest seed in the AFC in the divisional round.
