The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of another impressive campaign.
They ended the season with a disappointing 38-0 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 18 with head coach Andy Reid opting to rest a number of the team’s key players. The blowout loss, however, does not take away from the fact that the Chiefs are still a very strong bet to go all the way this season.
After finishing the regular season with a 15-2 record, the two-time defending champs clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, which means that they have earned a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Chiefs would not be where they are had it not been for the strong individual play of the members of their squad.
These players were recently honored by the NFL Players Association after the NFLPA announced this season’s All-Pro team. The Chiefs had three players named on the esteemed list, which was determined by players around the league voting for their peers.
Chris Jones (DT), Joe Thuney (LG) and Creed Humphrey (C) made up Kansas City’s contingent as the trio was voted by their peers as the best players in their respective positions. The Chiefs were quick to congratulate their three stars on Instagram.
“For the players, by the players. Congrats to our guys for being named to the @nflpa All-Pro list!” the Chiefs wrote.
While the fans were happy to see Jones, Thuney and Humphrey all named NFLPA All-Pros, more than a few supporters were angered by the announcement as well.
For the most part, Chiefs fans were incensed by the fact the Players Association snubbed CB Trent McDuffie.
“NOOOOOOO MCDUFFIE HUH?!??” a comment on Instagram read.
“So Trey not the best guard in the league now ” a supporter reacted.
“Congrats guys!!! But where or where is McDuffie???? Do the voters actually watch the games????” asked another.
“The NFL always despises Trent McDuffie,” declared a user.
A number of others were also left in disbelief that reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes was also denied a spot on the list.
“Saying a three time superbowl winning QB is not an all pro is the worst non selection of all time” said a fan.
“WHERES MAHOMES?!?!?!? ” reacted another.
For what it’s worth, Pat Surtain II of the Denver Broncos and Derek Stingley of the Houston Texans were named the two best cornerbacks in the league, while the Baltimore Raven’s Lamar Jackson was voted the best quarterback in the NFL.
Chiefs fans clearly disagree with these selections, and they’ve made their feelings about it abundantly clear.
