According to Thursday’s NFL transactions report, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed two free agents to Reserve/Future contracts for 2025: linebacker Shaun Bradley and defensive back Jason Taylor.
Earlier in the week, the team released linebacker Blake Lynch from its practice squad, filling that spot by re-signing wide receiver Montrell Washington.
Signed to the practice squad on December 30, Lynch was elevated for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Denver Broncos, in which he played on 35% of the defensive snaps and 96% of the special teams reps. Washington — who has spent most of the last two seasons on Kansas City’s practice squad — had been released to make room for Lynch.
Bradley, 27, first joined the league as a sixth-round pick for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2020 NFL Draft. Checking in at 6 feet 1 and 240 pounds, the former Temple linebacker appeared in 45 games for the Eagles (including one start) through 2022, playing primarily on special teams. He spent the 2023 season on Philadelphia’s Reserve/Injured list with a torn Achilles tendon. During 2024, he spent some time on the Houston Texans’ practice squad.
Taylor, 25, was a seventh-round pick for the Los Angeles Rams in 2023. He spent most of that season on the Rams’ Reserve/Injured list but did appear in eight games — mostly on special teams. The 6-foot, 205-pound safety from Oklahoma State was released at 2024’s final cutdown, later spending some of the season on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad.
A Reserve/Future contract offers a non-guaranteed minimum salary that takes effect at the start of the new league year in March. These players are not eligible for the postseason — and whether they will remain with the team until training camp depends on Kansas City’s other roster moves. At the season’s conclusion, the Chiefs are likely to sign most of their practice squad to Reserve/Future contracts.
