Internet sleuths uncover shock details about Ryan Caldwell’s viral spat with Packers fans

Social-media detectives are convinced all is not as it seems in the clip of a female Packers fan being verbally abused by an Eagles rival after accusing her fiance of setting up the viral moment.

Philadelphia supporter Ryan Caldwell, who could be heard calling the woman in question an ‘ugly, dumb c***’ in a video with over 30 million views on X, has been fired from his job as a business analyst for a DEI-focused management consultancy after being outed on social media.

Caldwell, 45, has also been banned by the Eagles from attending all future events at Lincoln Financial Field following his shocking tirade during their 22-10 playoff win over the Packers on Sunday.

However, internet sleuths believe he may be the victim of a setup after unearthing shock details about the Green Bay couple involved in the video.

Fans have discovered that the fiance of the woman abused by Caldwell, Alexander Basara, is actually a content creator with close to 60,000 subscribers on YouTube.

And to add to the suspicion, Basara and his other half only attended Sunday’s game after he created a GoFundMe page asking for donations to help get him there – despite claiming to live an hour away from Lincoln Financial Field.

The YouTuber wrote: ‘If you didn’t know, I’m born and raised in PA, and actually 1 hour from the Eagles stadium. So I ask of you, the fans… send me to Philly. Send me into the belly of the beast. I’ve done it multiple times repping the Packers proud, and I am fully ready to do it again.’

He then added: ‘I’ve been cursed at, stuff thrown at me, and even my first ever cheesehead ripped off my head and thrown into a fire bin while supporting my team in Philly. But I’m sure as hell not scared to do it again.’

A number of users on X are now accusing Basara of instigating the viral altercation with Caldwell in order to generate views for his social-media channels.

One commented alongside a photo of the couple before they headed into the stadium on Sunday: ‘Here is the Packers content creator with his camera before the game. He got exactly what he wanted…Something that went viral. What was he planning on getting with this camera facing the field? Glad the Eagles fan got banned for saying that stuff but this is fishy as hell.’

‘The guy was getting 1-200 likes before the incident,’ they added. ‘He is getting 1,000x that now dude to the incident. This is exactly what he wanted. I would not be surprised if they were talking s*** and provoked it. Just seems like content creator bull s***. “Content Creator”‘.

‘I originally felt bad for them but it was a setup,’ said another.

‘The vulgar Eagles fan is clearly a POS, but the Packers fiancé who filmed the incident has a lot going on,’ a third claimed. ‘How much did he instigate this? Look at his attitude going into the Linc. He was wearing a body camera to video stuff for content. He also has multiple GoFundMe’s to pay for his travel to Packers games etc. Need more info, but it feels like we’ve been manipulated by this dude’.

A fourth put: ‘The Packers fan recording the film was there via a GoFundMe to “rile up opposing fans in the belly of the beast”. True story. This was all a scam.’

Another user posted a screengrab of Basara’s GoFundMe page and commented: ‘Influencers do things on purpose to go viral. He knew this would happen so allowed his girl to be a piñata for aggressive drunk men at a sporting event to film….all to go viral for clicks and likes. Read the last paragraph’.

Yet Basara was quick to hit back at that allegation, insisting his intention was to film a ‘GameDay vlog’ for his YouTube channel before capturing Caldwell’s vile rant.

‘I “knew” she would be berated unprovoked by some random man??? Are you condoning his behavior? You should maybe try and not speak on things you have no idea about,’ he responded. ‘I was there and making a NORMAL GameDay vlog, just as I did in greenbay last month. I wanted to showcase the NORMAL banter of Eagles fan, which 99% of the time, we got. Then this guy wouldn’t stop, and it only got worse and worse. Way to defend a PoS for whatever your point here is…’

A number of fans also leapt to his defense, with one saying: ‘I mean, the only way this was avoidable is if he didn’t go to the game. And that just doesn’t even seem f***ing normal to say. He didn’t ask dude to be a big piece of s***.’

‘The a**hole Eagles fan is the bad guy here, still,’ concluded another.

In the video, Caldwell is seen shouting at the woman – who is wearing a Packers beanie – from his seat in the row behind.

After a play is reviewed by officials, he is heard taunting the couple. ‘It’s not a touchdown, so you don’t jerk off c** in the air.’

Basara responded: ‘Ok, well don’t call her a dumb c***.’ That prompted an angry response from Caldwell.

‘She’s an ugly, dumb c***,’ he snapped back. ‘You gonna do anything?’

Basara told NBC10 on Tuesday that Caldwell ‘was just going on and on and on’ and that he ‘wanted something out of us.’

‘So, I turned around, because I kind of had enough of it at this point, and I said, “Well, maybe you should go back to third grade then because it seems like you’re the one with the bad attitude. And it seems like all the fans around us are the ones with the bad attitudes,”‘ his fiancee claimed.

‘I was I guess trying to stay calm but I was pretty fuming at that point and just hopeful that another fan would tell this guy to stop. And everyone just kind of stood around and I guess allowed him to call me that name.’

Caldwell worked for BCT Partners based in East Brunswick, New Jersey. The company boasts on their site they ‘harness the power of diversity, insights and innovation to transform lives’.

The firm denounced the behavior caught on camera as an investigation was launched, before concluding that they ‘decided to part company with the employee.’

In a statement released on Tuesday night, the company condemned Caldwell’s actions ‘without condemning the individual.’

BCT Partners said: ‘This individual’s conduct and language were vile, disgusting, unacceptable, and horrific and have no place in our workplace and society. Such conduct is not who we are and not what we stand for.’
