BREAKING NEWS: Pittsburgh Steelers interested in former All-Pro 49ers wide receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest in San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, according to Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz.

Samuel has interested suitors, including the Washington Commanders and Houston Texans, who seem extremely interested in him and are even more aggressive than the Steelers. Pittsburgh has remained involved, but do not appear to be the front runners.

Samuel is still just 29 years old, but is coming off one of his least productive seasons in the NFL. That has left him on the outs in San Francisco, who have already given him permission to seek a trade elsewhere.

Samuel had just over 600 yards last season and dealt with a calf strain for much of the year, limiting his explosiveness. Injuries have racked up over his career, and he is heading into the last year of a massive extension he signed with the 49ers.

The Steelers, if they did trade for him, would likely trade a day-three pick, but it seems likely that Samuel might get cut anyway. That could lead to the Steelers signing him instead without having to give up any draft picks
