Chiefs Gear Up for 2025 with a Strategic Move

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed linebacker Blake Lynch to the practice squad, according to the club’s official X account.

Lynch, 27, first entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor following the 2020 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker had stops with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders before signing with the Chiefs.

Kansas City recently placed linebacker and special teams ace Jack Cochrane on its Reserve/Injured list following a fracture to his left ankle. Ahead of their Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Chiefs activated tight end Peyton Hendershot and elevated linebacker Swayze Bozeman and safety Deon Bush from the practice squad.

In Lynch’s only appearance this season (for the Chargers), he saw snaps with all four special teams units (kick coverage, kick return, punt coverage and punt return). Moving forward, he projects as another option for special teams coordinator Dave Toub.
