Davante Adams just pushed the door wide open for a Packers return

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for their hopeful postseason run, all some former fan favorites can do is look on and watch.

Current New York Jets wide receiver and former Packers great Davante Adams is sitting this postseason out with his newest team. It’s a new team but the same result for Adams, who spent the past two and a half years with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Joining NFL personality Kay Adams on her show Up & Adams on Friday, the wide receiver was asked about a few different topics. But, the most intriguing one came when he was questioned about his future and whether or not he would entertain going back to play for an organization he previously played for.

“Like you’d take a phone call from a team that rhymes with ‘shmackers?'” she asked the wide receiver with a smile.

Davante began to laugh as he responded.

“You can’t rule anything out. I got a lot of love for the organizations I’ve played for, so I wouldn’t rule out anybody,” he said.

Davante Adams seems to be open to playing for the Packers again

Davante went on to talk about having to do what’s best for his career over the last couple of years and how that maybe has rubbed some people the wrong way, but he’s just been trying to win. As for playing in Green Bay again, he’s not ruling that out.

“I would say yeah, I’m keeping my mind open … the Packers are a great team and if they felt like that was a possibility for me … obviously this is going to be an interesting offseason,” he said.

Adams’ quote ends with him saying he’s “keeping an open mind,” so take that as you will.

This is curious timing for such a question, of course, with Christian Watson having just torn his ACL and now facing a lengthy recovery.

The Packers still haven’t found an established No. 1 wide receiver in this current group. There are a lot of talented players in both the receiving room and tight end group, but having a presence like Adams could be what this offense needs.

Being able to open things up more for a player like Jayden Reed to be used in creative ways and allowing Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks more room to operate could be a big boost for quarterback Jordan Love.

Now, there’s a long way to go before any offseason moves are made. But, it’s worth noting that Adams very well could be on his way out of New York.

And, Green Bay appears to be an option.
