Micah Parsons predicted to get record deal. Here’s how much ESPN says Cowboys could pay him

Micah Parsons went out and made history this past season, and now the former Harrisburg High and Penn State star Dallas Cowboys pass rusher is set to cash in.

And, by cash in, at least one outlet predicts Parsons could be on the verge of making more history. Because just days after he said he was slated to sit down with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones at the Cotton Bowl, ESPN+ believes Parsons is about to become the highest paid defensive player of all-time.

While taking a look ahead, Parsons was the focus of the site’s “big prediction” for Dallas’s offseason.

“Despite some public consternation between edge rusher Micah Parsons and the Cowboys’ brass, an extension will get done this offseason, and it’ll be the biggest one a defensive player has ever seen,” Ben Solak wrote. “Nick Bosa got $170 million over five years; Parsons will get $175 million over the same length, along with $125 million in total guaranteed money to exceed Bosa’s $122.5 million figure. Parsons has been the league’s best defender when on the field this season. He deserves every penny.”

While the Cowboys had a disappointing season, missing the playoffs, Parsons closed out the regular season by sacking Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels twice in the first three plays of their game. That put him in elite company for his career.
Parsons finished the season with 12 sacks, making him just the fourth player since 1982 — the year the NFL began to track individual sacks — to record double-digit sacks in each of his first four seasons.
The other guys on that list?
Reggie White, Derrick Thomas and Dwight Freeney.

They are all in the Hall of Fame.

Parsons finished the regular-season fifth in the league in sacks, and per CBS Sports his 0.92 sacks per game was second-most in the league behind only Bengals defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson, who finished with 17.5 sacks.

“If you gonna want me, I’m the best in the business,” Parsons said, per CBS, when he was asked about where he stood among the league’s best following the regular-season finale. “After that I saw a bunch of triple teams so I was like, ‘We’re back to regular programming.’ That’s part of the game. I think honestly, man, I get Myles Garrett is a freak of nature. We’re different freaks in our own way. I can’t say there’s three or four people better than me in this league. I miss four games, and I put up the same numbers as some of these guys who play all year.”
