Peters had been hit plenty before. From 2002-2008, he played as a guard and center in the NFL for five different teams. After seven seasons, he took his fair share of hits. Peters also has a background in mixed martial arts. However, this was different.
When Ramsey crashed into him, Peters lost a tooth, suffered a broken nose and his lip was split.
“If you’re going to get with a helmet, you’d like to have a helmet on. I didn’t get an opportunity to get a helmet on for that one,” Peters said. “I had a split – my face got cut open so they had to put some strips on there. My nose broke.”
Peters said he’s been “too locked in” with the season to get the appropriate dental work done. When the Patriots finish this season, he’ll eventually get a new tooth as an implant.
After it happened, and he was bandaged up, Peters finished the game and admitted, it didn’t look pretty.
“Stayed out there,” Peters said. “I think I disturbed some people out there – like, ‘What’s wrong with this guy?’”
