Another day, and another wide receiver the Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to ahead of free agency. This time, it is Buffalo Bills wide receiver Amari Cooper, who the Steelers could be interested in during the free agency period.

Pro Football Focus sees the fit between Cooper and the Steelers, citing their need for a route runner and veteran type across from the talented George Pickens.

“The 30-year-old Cooper will have his fair share of suitors on the open market, likely teams looking to add quality veteran leadership to their receiver room. What better place to provide that presence than a team with a history of animated receivers like Pittsburgh?” PFF writes.

“The Steelers were actively shopping for receiving help at the trade deadline, with reports linking them to several options, including the former Brown. Pairing the even-keeled Cooper with George Pickens would be a prudent move to calm the Steelers’ receiver room and split defensive attention.”

Cooper is coming off a down year where he was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Buffalo Bills. But even once he got into the Bills offense, Cooper’s game never took off like an elite wide receiver’s should, and he is now 30 years old.

Cooper had just 44 grabs for 547 yards and four touchdowns in 2024. It was a sharp decline from his 1250 yard output with the Browns in 2023, so it remains to be seen if Cooper still has more juice left in the tank.
