PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher Cam Heyward is okay after suffering an ankle injury against the Kansas City Chiefs. The play happened on Travis Kelce’s touchdown, and it appeared that Heyward turned his ankle. He limped off the field, but later returned. After the game, Heyward said that he was fine.
Without him, the Steelers turned to Isaiahh Loudermilk to fill the void. However, the injury is not anticipated to limit Heyward against the Cincinnati Bengals or in the playoffs. He will play, and with 10 days of rest, the Steelers should have him near full health.
Pittsburgh could look to dress an extra defensive lineman if they would like to do. Dean Lowry was inactive against the Chiefs since there were no injuries up front, and that came just a week after the Steelers started Lowry against the Baltimore Ravens.
Heyward is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his NFL career. Despite being 35, he is likely to garner All-Pro consideration and make the Pro Bowl on top of that.
