PITTSBURGH — Alex Highsmith is still not ready to return just yet from his low ankle sprain. He was sidelined from Wednesday’s practice and worked off to the side once again. Highsmith expressed optimism on Tuesday that he may play, but it will come more on Thursday and Friday as the Steelers will get him out there for practices. The Pittsburgh Steelers could keep him sidelined for one more week to make sure it is fully healed.
While Highsmith was still sidelined, the Steelers got plenty of other good news. Cornerback Cory Trice (hamstring) and defensive tackle Montravius Adams (knee) were both full participants. Those players hope to return from injured reserve and are in the middle of their 21-day windows to return from those injuries.
If both players were activated before Sunday against the Bengals, the Steelers would have to release two players to make room for them. It seems likely that Adams is on pace to return. When asked if the plan was for him to play on Sunday, Adams believes that is the plan as long as he has no setbacks.
