Steelers Quarterback Strategy for 2025 Revealed

The Pittsburgh Steelers experimented with both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson last season under center and after the offense failed to take off in front of either one, it’s unlikely both will return as they hit free agency.
While the team has expressed interest in bringing back one, it’s unknown if that will happen, and the Steelers have been linked to a number of free-agent veterans this offseason.
But another likely scenario is bringing in a young quarterback in next month’s NFL Draft. Pittsburgh’s first pick isn’t until No. 21 and the team isn’t expected to pick a quarterback there. It’s too low for one of the top signal callers to be there, and probably too high for one of the second-tier quarterbacks like Jaxson Dart and Quinn Ewers.
“Right now, their likely focus is on finding a young quarterback in the third or fourth round to be a backup and potentially develop into a future starter,” Dulac writes.
Pittsburgh has not met with Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, who are expected to be off the board by pick No. 21. But the Steelers have met with Jalen Milroe, Will Howard, Dart, Ewers and Ben Brosmer.
All of those names could be available in the third round for Pittsburgh.
