This was a disastrous season for the Dallas Cowboys, and it ended with them parting ways with Mike McCarthy, who had been their head coach since 2020.
They have been conducting a coaching search lately, and the list of candidates they have interviewed includes Deion Sanders, the All-Pro cornerback who played for them in the mid-to-late 1990s.
The Cowboys also officially interviewed Kellen Moore, the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator who held that role for Dallas from 2019 to 2022.

During those four seasons with Moore as their offensive coordinator, Dallas finished first in points scored once and first in total yards twice while winning a total of 38 games.
This season, with Brian Schottenheimer in his second year as their offensive coordinator, they fell to 21st in scoring and 17th in total yards.
As important as hiring the right head coach is for Dallas, an even bigger issue is its overall roster.
The Cowboys have plenty of star power, but they lack depth, and that is particularly true on offense.
Their running game is arguably the worst in the NFL, and they lack a true No. 2 wide receiver to complement CeeDee Lamb, who was recently named to his fourth straight Pro Bowl.
The Cowboys were 7-10 this season and missed the playoffs, and of all the frustrating seasons they have had, this one was perhaps the most frustrating one they have had to endure in some time.
They haven’t won the Super Bowl or reached the NFC Championship game since the 1995 season, and their fan base has grown weary of their lack of postseason success.
