Revealed: The Inside Scoop on Mike Tomlin’s Contract with the Steelers

It is not surprising that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is well-compensated. He is one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL, and is the NFL’s longest-tenured head coach, which earns him that opportunity.

As a result, Tomlin’s contract for the next three years would be hard to walk away from if the Steelers wanted to do that. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette relayed just how much money Tomlin is being paid over the next three years of his contract.

Tomlin is getting paid $50 million, which puts him as the third highest paid coach in the NFL. All in all, that is north of $16 million per season, and it is likely a huge part of the reason why there is any apprehension to move on from Tomlin.

Tomlin is staying around, and because the Steelers organization does not like move on from coaches early, they often just move on from them when their contract runs out.
Tomlin’s contract nearly ensures he will be the head coach for at least the next two seasons given how the franchise operates, which means he needs to change so the playoff results start to change.
